Palm Tree

I wrote this a while ago...just found it looking through files for an idea for today.
It's not that warm yet, so let's just pretend we're on a tropical island instead of an island on the coast of Maine...I'm going to see what this format looks like online.  It isn't easy to do what I wanted to do here, which is make the poem into a palm tree shape.  Oh, well.  You can just imagine that it looks great!

palm tree  \ /   palm tree
tall  and  lean  with    no branches
to be   -   seen
just
some
long
green
fronds
up
there
like
some
cow-
licks
in
your
hair!

To all who read my poem "A Rhetorical Question?"  and the lullaby by Angie, and took the time to vote - for either poem - thank you!
I will be writing a poem a day in April for Poetry Month and participating in the A to Z Challenge.  Hope you stop back for some visits here again!

  1. You know I love your poetry, thought the owl was awesome, Donna. Me too for a poem a day, although this year I'm tired-too much else going on!

    1. Thanks, Linda! I've started my A to Z. I think I bit off a bit much...but we'll try it! It has been very busy, hasn't it? With your move and selling the house and visits AND blogging, how do you get your laundry done???

  2. You write great poems Donna! I am always inspired by your creativity! Thanks for sharing your palm tree-I never really thought about how they are like cow licks! I'll never see these two objects the same!

  3. I love how would made it a word picture as well as a poem.

  4. That is so cool! It worked and the words are perfect. As a kid I fought with a cowlick on my bangs, so I can identify with the palm fronds. I love the way you look at objects and turn it into poetry.

  5. I don't even know how you did this, Donna - you are able to work magic with words (which I already knew) but also with typography. Awesome.

  6. Wow. Being that I am deprived of spatial intelligence, this is super impressive! Love!

    1. Spatial intelligence deprivation. Oh, good, that must mean "not spacey"! Wait, does that mean I am spacey? LOL! Maybe!
