K is for Kitty, Kitty

This is the Keenly Kooky, Kind beyond belief A-to-Z April 2015 Challenge!!!!  And I am an A to Z Participant.  And it is Day 11, Letter K!

Again this year I am writing a poem a day to celebrate National Poetry Month.  It's my FOURTH YEAR in a ROW of writing a poem a day for the A to Z Challenge. My theme this year, is signs I've photographed and poems to go with them.

The strangest thing about this picture is that I actually had the student in my class whose mother owned this car.  I was at a mall about 40 minutes away from where we live, and saw this car, and took a picture of it.  A few days later, talking to one of my first graders she mentioned that her mother had a "Hello, Kitty" picture on her car.  I grabbed my cellphone and asked her if it was like this, to which she replied, "That's my mom's car!"  Small world.

Though the smallest world thing that ever happened to me, was when a first grader gave me their emergency information card for the office, and on it she had my phone number that our family had when I was a first grader... How strange is that?

Here, Kitty, Kitty...

Kitty Graffiti has struck once again
And painted a face on my car
And though it seems friendly and really benign
You can't really drive very far
Before people notice and wave to your hood
And make you feel foolish and strange
For letting a silly old cat make his mark
With paint that is so hard to change.
"Here, Kitty, Kitty!"  It calls out to all
It looks like a Kitty Car-toon
And when I am in it I feel such a fool
A Kitty attracting, buffoon!
Come 'Here, Kitty, Kitty', wash off your face,
Get rid of this pink and white paint;
I need it gone now, yesterday, or last week -
I don't want to hear that you cain't!

  1. An adult owns that car? I thought that would've been a young girl's car! That's just too funny!

    1. Yes, this is an actual parent's car... I was so surprised to learn that it belonged to a parent of one of my first graders.

  2. I guess it really is a small world. As much as I love cats, I don't think I would paint Hello Kitty on the front of my car.

  3. Love this! I also loved yesterday's clogyrmach post (that was new to me) and attempted one of my own. Looking forward to practicing more. :~)
