F is for Farmers' Market

This is the Famous, Fearless and Fabulous Fandango beyond belief A-to-Z April 2015 Challenge!!!!  And I am an A to Z Participant.  And it is Day 6, Letter F!

Again this year I am writing a poem a day to celebrate National Poetry Month.  It's my FOURTH YEAR in a ROW of writing a poem a day for the A to Z Challenge. This year my poems will be paired with photos of signs I've taken the past few years.

Farmers Market

Buy winter farmers here today,
You'll get a lot for what you pay;
A dollar a pound for fancy farmers -
Horse whisperers or cattle charmers -

A little less for those of swine
A little more for those bovine;
Farmers of wheat, beets or sheep -
Have price tags that are pretty cheap.

When all the snow is gone for good,
With dandelions where snow once stood,
We'll plant a bunch more farmer seeds,
And grow more farmers for our needs.

We'll till the soil and make some space
To sow more farmers every place;
Then when the daffodils have past
We'll see the farmers sprout at last.

Then come next fall the barn we'll fill
With farmers safely stored from chill.
And we'll have more farmers to sell;
Come buy your farmer in the dell.

What?

They don't SELL farmers?   Yeah, right.

Ok, but if they sell fleas at a flea market, why wouldn't they sell farmers at a farmers market?

Nevermind.  Let's go on with G!

  1. I'll have a fancy farmer, thank you, even if they do cost a little more.

  3. Oh, man, I should've had flea market for an F topic too. You're never much more than spittin' distance from a flea market in Kentucky. :O) Love your poem. I love poetry. The rhythm of the words, the meter, to rhyme or not to rhyme - it's like turning words over in your hand and discovering all the shiny sides! :O)
