It's Never Really Magic

It’s never really magic.

Magic?

Someday the Magic will be revealed
When all the volumes become unsealed
And we will then know the reasons why
And know the height and the breadth of sky
Someday the Magic will be revealed
The everlasting then unconcealed
My eyes beholding, I’ll gasp for breath
But in that Magic there is no death
Someday the Magic will be revealed
My guilt, the sentence are all repealed
The day will dawn and atop the mount
I’ll drink from Heaven’s eternal Fount.
Someday the Magic will be revealed -
Our praise to Whom we have long appealed.

  1. I like this one a lot.
The only thing I would say is that I think switching the places of "then" and "know" in line three would help the rhythm.

    1. Thanks for the feedback! I'm still debating that one. I know what you mean exactly, though I can still read it both ways and keep the cadence going. It still seems an easier "roll off the tongue" with "know" first. I'm almost thinking of changing "then" to "all" or switching them around to "we will know all the reasons why..." It would still keep the rhythm and be more open to meaning the reasons for everything. Yes? No?

    2. Oh, yeah, I like that better. "All the reasons," that's good.

  2. Love this vast frame of Magic when it will no longer be. We live in the hope of that ultimate revelation. A wonderfully rhythmical journey with the word Magic...

    1. Although we try to imagine, I'm sure on that day we will discover how unimaginative our imagining minds have been!

  5. I enjoyed the certainty you convey about the after life and the serene tone of your poem. Most of us do live with that hope I think but you have expressed it beautifully.

    1. It can seem so to us...and maybe caterpillars! Can you imagine being a caterpillar and being transformed? Must be amazing! I hope they have brain enough to appreciate it!

  11. Spirituality is magical. I had never really thought about it until I connect with those who do not have it which is rare these days. A whole dimension is missing from them. They are not at peace and have little joy. Sad really. I like your thought provoking poem.
