Musicfully Inclined

Thanks to Robyn Hood Black for hosting this week's Poetry Friday!

This must be because of the bells yesterday.  I really like those bells.  I want to start a bell choir now.

Musicful

Joyful jamming
Sounds abound
Lilting, twinkling
Melodies found

Gleeful scales
Notes so light
Laughing, dancing
In their flight

Jostling jive
Twitch of toes
Jumping, sliding
Anything goes

Cheerful chant
Ropes a’swing
Salting, peppering
Beat’s the thing

Caller calls
Dosey doe
Circling, bowing
Heel and toe

Soulful song
Echos remain
Aching, longing
Heart's refrain

Prayerful hymn
Voices raise
Worshipping, carolling
Him to praise

Loving lullaby
Momma’s tune
Soothing, drifting
Sweet dreams soon

Music soothes
and gives us peace
Makes us dance
and hop to beats

Gives us joy
and makes us cry
Gives us wings and
lets us fly

    1. Ding! (That was a "What a great idea!" ding.) Maybe I should do that... You are so clever. Keep pushing me. Maybe I will actually figure out how to do it.

    1. I'm now thinking of a few more styles . Maybe add them to my book?

  4. It could be a wonderful picture book, Donna. I can just imagine the swirl of the dancers and musicians! And, a nephew's partner is the music director at a church in Florida, and directs a bell choir too, and composes music for them! He visited here one year at a 'gathering' of bell choirs. They are wonderful! I think there are many on youtube!

    1. I tried unsuccessfully to get my son interested when he was around 10 years old, but he didn't take to them.I would have liked to learn how. Maybe someday.

  5. So lovely to read aloud, Donna. And I agree with Linda, I can see a picture book with this one. Beautiful!

    1. Thanks, Myra. Maybe I can figure out how to go about that. I'd like to try making it a books. I have a few more bits whirling around in my head I maybe could add.

    1. Oooh, lucky you! I had fun yesterday showing the brother and sister duo how to use the bells we have. They are so excited to play them for Christmas! Sad part is, now the bells are at their house for practicing! I may REALLY need to get some for myself now!

  8. I was in a bell choir many years ago as well. It's a joy to be in a group that is so dependent on one another to make beautiful music. But what was even more incredible was when we participated in national and international bell festivals and you have a hundred or more choirs playing at the same time! Now that's something to experience first hand!

    1. Oops, I got side-tracked. I also wanted to mention how much I enjoyed your poem. :) Especially that last stanza, Donna-- it sums up my own feelings about music beautifully.

    2. Oh, how wonderful to have had that experience! That must have been an overwhelmingly beautiful feeling with all those choirs playing together!
And thanks! I'm feeling very musicful this Christmas.
