Comfort and Joy

I'm representing the northeast corner of the USA up here in Maine in Mark Koopmans' "50 States of Pray" where someone from each state (and some countries) will "take a moment and about 100 words - share a prayer, a thought, a memory, a hope,... a regret,... a wish for the future" on Christmas Eve.
Thank you Mark from Hawaii for this wonderful idea!  Visit the page and hear what other bloggers have to share this Christmas Eve at Aloha! Mark Koopmans Says Hi from HI.

I love this song used in the story of Christmas, sung by the animals where Jesus lay in their manger.  Not too "heavy", just a sweet tune and words.  Have a listen if you have the time this Christmas Eve!

The sheep and cow wanted to prepare him room, and they gave up their space and food for the King of Kings.  They received Him, welcoming Him in.
My prayer is "Let Earth receive her King."
We always hear that Christmas is about giving, not receiving.
But that's not really entirely true; it is about receiving, too.
Will you receive your King?
When you receive Him, you can then receive what He has to give.
He would like to give us everything.

May you be filled with Comfort and Joy this Christmas!
Merry Christmas to All!

  1. And a Merry Christmas to you too, Terje! Today we put up the tree...I hope! It's been too icy and snowy every time we've tried to venture out for the past two weeks it seems! Power came back on, so we are ready to go! Cue Christmas lights!

  9. I thought about giving and receiving. Christmas is a big deal for my sister. I didn't like to get all those presents as I rarely had money to give back. Then, I thought about it. It was giving her pleasure to watch us open those gifts.

    1. I can understand that totally. I love giving gifts, too, and get more pleasure out of that than getting them. But graciously receiving gifts is an important part of life, too.

  15. So true. I believe Christmas is about celebrating the life of our King, and remembering the blessing it is to receive him in our hearts.

May you have a wonderful 2014!

  16. I love your prayer. I have followed Poetry Friday for about 2 yrs. now, but just today saw I can follow you on bloglovin', where I daily follow teaching posts. I am a third grade teacher who also writes poetry. I live near Sacramento, CA. I used to spend 2 weeks a summer in Maine, as my father bought blueberries for Pepperidge Farm. Those are always good memories. kganon@sanjuan.edu
