Reveille

I am posting this from my iPad from the coziness of my bed.  The weather is not pleasant.  I can hear that.  The sky is not shiny.  I can see that.  But it sure is warm and toasty and rosy here in bed!  Think I'll just stay here today.  Somehow I'm going to have to get coffee....

I finally got up!  I love my three ever changing panels of scenery each day.
Morning

Wind whistles, rain knocks -
November's dark reveille;
I snuggle deeper.

Poetry Friday awaits! I'm reading from bed....just a bit longer, please...now I'm sounding like that whiny old wind out there.
The dog is going to be crazy about all the new toys that have fallen from the trees. She's the "fetchingest" dog we've ever had!

Time for virtual visiting!  Meet you over at The Miss Rumphius Effect where poetry is being rounded up today!

Update for me...
I just remembered what I wanted to write about this week.  I had this idea...that I didn't write down...and I know better than to do that because it never works out.
BUT  I JUST REMEMBERED IT!
I'm going to write myself a note, or maybe just start writing it now.  I can't believe I remembered.  Without coffee.
Ah, just add milk!

  1. November's dark reveille -- love that! It's getting harder and harder to leave that cozy warmth in the morning, even down here in VA.

    1. It was so nice to take some quiet time and read...
but now I'm up, the coffee is brewed and my coarse cut Red's oatmeal with raisins, Maine maple syrup, Maine wild blueberries, almond slivers and Ceylon Cinnamon is awaiting the tip of my spoon! Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain (sung to tune of "Let It Snow")! Maybe I'll add a picture of my breakfast.

  2. Donna, your breakfast sounds delicious. I am going to share your haiku with my kids. They can certainly relate!

  4. You gave a beautiful greeting to us this am. Sadly I didn't see it because I met friends for breakfast early, early. I did NOT snuggle in, perhaps tomorrow. The sun is going away & more rain, then snow today for us, but quick they say. We'll see. I love all the poem, November's reveille especially nice, & I do like the dark, perhaps knowing it won't be here forever. Have a lovely Thanksgiving, Donna!

    1. Also saw 16 turkeys on our lawn when I got up. For a dreary day, it's been pretty!

  5. Oh, my gosh, your window looks like something I'd see in an art gallery - such a beautiful triptych! And, by the way, hooray for snuggling deeper when you can. Sometimes snuggling = a poem, as yours did!

  6. Love your haiku, especially considering the creative venue. Good for you! p.s. Your second photo looks like a made-to-order frame for Matt's cubed poem challenge..Can't help wondering if the sights through the three panes ever are distinct enough to inspire cubing. God bless you!

    1. The panes are sometimes different enough to get a three distinct image effect, I think. Never thought of it that way until today as I was taking the picture.

  7. We had rainy fog here yesterday, which your poem captures perfectly. I'm still laughing about this: "The dog is going to be crazy about all the new toys that have fallen from the trees."

    1. She is just SO funny with sticks...and big branches! She doesn't care what size or how hard it is to drag. She's a "Sticks 'R' Us" kid!

  8. I love the ending line "I snuggle deeper." They evoke both an image and a feeling for me, and are the perfect response to the first two lines.

  9. So you're just going to leave us on tenterhooks? Did you actually get your idea written down? And you're not going to tell what it is, are you? My thought is, if you can do this well without coffee, what could you do with it?!

    1. Ha! I was writing it today for a scheduled post for NEXT Friday, so I wouldn't forget. Then in the middle of it, I realized it was the day after Thanksgiving and it should probably be a different post that I started thinking about. So now I'm debating which way I'm going with this. I guess we'll find out on Friday!

  10. Gobble! Gobble!
    SIXTEEN turkeys!
And does the dog think they are toys, like the pinecones & sticks. Or, just sticks.
Appreciations for this morning haiku & the lovely images (red cereal too.)

  11. Dark, perhaps, rainy, yes, but a perfect morning for toasty and snuggly! I'm ready for my milk, thanks.

  12. I snuggle along with you as the seasons tuck me in. I love the triple panes and the poem. May I use it for the Fall Gallery? I wasn't sure if you sent me one and can't check because many of the offerings vanished into cyberspace.
