Each day (except Sundays) in April, I'm writing
poems with some obscure words starting with the letter of the day, and
then doing a small watercolor to go with it. Today's Letter is V in this Blogging A to Z Challenge.
Vulpine
Sweet, versute vixen of wooded glen
Mid viridity has made her den.
She meanders on a the sheltered trail
Close to smallish game in vale.
A frog, a rat, a mouse or vole
She’ll carry back to sheltered hole
Where kits will play with evening meal
Before consuming prey with zeal.

She is a beautiful creature. Sadly I think I saw one on the side of the road the other day...(to me I just called it a fox, but still it made me sad)
ReplyDeleteCheers,

I just hate seeing dead animals on the side of the road. Makes me sad, too – especially now when they've just started to awaken with spring, and they were just out enjoying their world. In Maine the sides of the roads are soon cleared by crows, hawks and coyote, or the town crews. In PA when I was there for a bit, the roads were always strewn with dead bodies, especially deer. They'd be around until they turned to dust. Very sad.
