Lightning Bugs

Today's Letter is L in the Blogging A to Z Challenge.  I'm writing a poem with some obscure words starting with the letter of the day, and then doing a small watercolor to go with it.

Lightning Bugs

Like largifical flickering stars,
These lepid creatures of light,
lambent fireflies flit
with legerity of sprites.

 Definitions:

largifical = ample, bountiful
lepid = pleasant charming amusing
lambent = flickering, touching lightly, glowing
legerity =  lightness, nimbleness

  1. Lightening bug catching was my favorite thing to do when I was a little girl living in Maine. We would go to Frog Ally in Fryeburg and chase lightening bugs through the fields....what fun and what a lovely memory this piece has brought me. We don't see many lightening bugs here in SC.

    1. I hadn't seen any in years. Then I moved to a place with a field across the road and summers are filled with them again. They are on the decline, though, unfortunately.
