Wholeness
There is a wholeness that I felt as a child
with wind and sea and pine,
and security of family.
I drifted into more
security and wholeness,
or expanded perhaps is the better word,
to living with the bits and pieces we put
together in life,
creating our space and
our new family unit,
blending and growing that to new wholeness.
Now I seek my own
oneness,
wholeness
rearranging the bits and pieces
we had set about us,
and realize
God is my wholeness,
always has been
Wholly Holy.
He is all.
I don't need bits and pieces
to be whole.
There are no bits and pieces
to the Wholeness.

Mmm... Donna I love "Wholly Holy." Perhaps this is another opening in our understanding...that wholeness does not have to mean unbroken; it means accepting our brokenness as holy. Beautiful reflection!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping in, Patricia! I'm sitting here at my computer with your Christmas card and poem beside me! Such a beautiful poem. Thank you for being a part of the exchange. I'm sorry I didn't get back to you before this! I am off and on for getting things done still, but much better than I was. Focus is improved!
DeleteOh, and I forgot the shooting star ornament! So pretty...It's stored away for next year. I was at the top of my little tree.
DeleteDonna, "God is my wholeness". What more do we need? He is the glue that binds us as one. Bob
ReplyDeleteDonna, I see the change from your family unit to "Now I seek my own / oneness, / wholeness" and I think of you again in your mourning the loss of your husband. I appreciate so much the sentiment of your faith and belief that "God is my wholeness / always has been / Wholly Holy" So beautiful and true. We can be whole together with others, but also always have the foundation as "God is my wholeness." I am encouraged by your post. Peace and comfort to you today.
ReplyDeleteDonna, I love your poem and especially these lines:
ReplyDeleteGod is my wholeness,
always has been
Wholly Holy.
He is all.
I agree wholeheartedly. Thank you for the gift your words.
I'm running a bit behind on comments. Your poem is lovely. Oh, that we could always remember, "God is my wholeness/always has been/Wholly Holy." Beautiful words to contemplate.
