A to Z on a Plate - E

Today line 6 in the Progressive Poem is written by Carol at Beyond LiteracyLink.
I am writing a poem a day for NaPoWriMo (#NaPoWriMo) and linking up with Margaret Simon's sharing of poems inspired by an image. (#imagepoems)
Visit more sites in the A-to-Z Challenge, where everything is about E today - Day 5! (#atozchallenge)

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Eventide
morning's eye peeks up
over the edge of the blanket
shaded lids opening a bit at a time
soft light expanding to radiate
over all the field and pond
then trudges across the day
looking down it keeps track of its
progress as it draws shadows
across the land
and follows birds
until it slips back
into bed at nightfall
but before shutting out the light
one last beaming
one bit of fluffing up the clouds
in pinks and golds
before calling it quits,
it slips a bookmark
into life's story
to pick up where it left off
tomorrow.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Would like to try your hand at a poem about Elvis?  That one should be fun!
I am posting the poems written in response to the extra license plates on Sundays when there is no letter for the A-to-Z Challenge.  Last week's poems submitted by commenters may be found at this link: Surplus Plate Poems here!

Do YOU have a vanity plate beginning with the letter E?
Let me know in the comments!  Or just comment.
I like those, too!

  5. I'm here catching up on the plates I missed. Love these lines:

"one bit of fluffing up the clouds
    in pinks and golds
    before calling it quits,
    it slips a bookmark
    into life's story"

    Lovely eventide poem, Donna.
