D is for Doughnut

And here we are at day 4, a day for doughnuts; a fourth day of putting forth poems aimed at the 4 to 104 set.
I give you 4 doughnut poems.  I cannot eat doughnuts.  I am not eating sugar.  It's okay.  I'm fine with it.  Have your doughnut.  I'm okay.  With it.  Really.  I am.  Fine.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
And okay...this one just popped into my head, donut know where it came from...not a diamante...just a doughnut poem...

Donut you think doughnuts are great
Sprinkled with sugar and on a blue plate?
I'd eat them for breakfast and eat them for tea
I'll give you one, if there's one left for me!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Oh, no!  Not another one!  I m-u-s-t   s-t-o-p!!!

Goodness, gracious, me, oh, my!
I do not want a piece of pie.
I just want doughnuts piled up high.
Give me doughnuts or I'll cry!

Goodness, gracious, me, oh, sigh!
I ate those doughnuts piled sky high!
I think I'll just crawl off and die -
Next time I'll have that piece of pie!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
And everything should have its own acrostic...
Dunked in coffee, tea
Or milk,
Usually fried in
Grease or lard; With a
Hole in the middle,
No one could resist one
Unless they'd just eaten
Too much pie!

  2. Really, I am laughing now! I was a little hesitant to click this link so early in the morning. I wasn't sure I could resist donuts. Then I read the first poem and thought a filled donut would be so good right now, but I resisted. Then, however, I read another donut poem and another and another. I'm thinking I might have to have a donut now. I enjoyed the rhythm of "Goodness Gracious Me."

  4. Well, love them all, but especially that one that just spewed out: "Goodness gracious, me, oh, my!" You have this way with words that always pleases, Donna. (Glad you're not eating sugar, but donuts are certainly sweet to contemplate.)

  6. We don't eat sugar here, either.

    1. I've cut out sugar for just over 3 weeks. Lots of stuff has sugar - it's a tough job when you don't consume the substitute sweeteners either. Those doughnuts just wouldn't be the same!

    2. It's been almost 4 years for us. Once I got over the soda, I was pretty much okay.

  9. One of my favorite jokes from one of my favorite comedians, Mitch Hedberg:

“I bought a doughnut and they gave me a receipt for the doughtnut... I don't need a receipt for the doughnut. I give you money and you give me the doughnut, end of transaction. We don't need to bring ink and paper into this. I can't imagine a scenario that I would have to prove that I bought a doughnut. To some skeptical friend, 'Don't even act like I didn't get that doughnut, I've got the documentation right here... It's in my file at home. ...Under "D".'”

  10. Donna,
Thanks for the suggestions on my post about commenting at Reflect and Refine. I thought I'd try returning to a blog to let you know I had replied.

    Great suggestions!
Cathy (now I'm off to eat donuts for the 2nd time today!)

  11. I'm not sure if I like you very much right now. I am so hungry for a doughnut but we have gone Paleo and no doughnuts in my near or far future. I do love how you added the recipe for making my own poem so I guess I forgive you.

    1. I know, I know! I wrote this before I gave up sugar. I don't think I could/should read and dwell on these poems too long! Today's poems are not as appetizing, so you're safe again!
